Toda winter shawls made in a cottonโwool blend, chosen for weight and warmth, richly hand-embroidered by indigenous Toda women artisans of the Nilgiris in their distinctive black-and-red GI-tagged geometric language. Made slowly and in small batches, each shawl takes several weeks to complete and carries the motifs of mountains, paths, and forest elements that define the Toda landscape.
